Yes. Yes yes yes yes. This!

I've found people here and there in the "plural community" who've become great friends. But I've found that I don't necessarily get along with people based on whether they're plural or not.

And - many of the people who are closest to me in my life, the people who've stood by me through hell and high water (sometimes literally), don't share even my most fundamental beliefs. I'm a deeply spiritual person and most of my friends are atheists.

Does that get frustrating sometimes? Sure. But I wouldn't change my friends for people who believe "the right things." They're my friends. Who they are as people, how they've treated me, is more important to me than what they believe.

I don't want to be part of any community that supports me conditionally based on what kind of person I am, or what I believe. Community, to me - family, friendships - is people who stand by you even when they don't get you. People who work to overcome differences rather than throwing you out because of them.
