Forgive me for editorializing, but it occurs to me that some of your difficulties may have derived from the fact that the society of which we are a part has the tendency to behave as though "masculine" and "feminine" are written in stone somewhere.
But nowhere is it written that bright colors or skirts are feminine, or that interest in sports or video games is masculine.
Even anatomical features are not indicators of gender. If someone with breasts identifies as male, then those breasts are, at least in this case, a male trait.
Unfortunately, our so-called peers tend to perceive gender-trait constellations as natural laws, and they enforce those traits on us as such, doing great damage in the process.
